Recently, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office completed a renovation of the 911 Dispatch center which included replacing outdated technology as well as installing all new Dispatch Console furniture. The radios and computers in the original control room had passed their prime and the Dispatch consoles had been designed to hold cumbersome CRT monitors. It was built by the original contractor of the building. A significant aspect of the Dispatch Center renovation was the installation of ergonomically designed Dispatch consoles to house the new equipment. Several factors complicated the selection of new consoles. First, the new console layout needed to fit the existing control room while also installing three workstations essentially within the same footprint. Second, the control room needed to remain operational throughout the renovation, so installation of the consoles had to take place in phases.
Franklin County chose 911 Direct to provide the Dispatch consoles because the company was able to meet their design requirements and offered a feature-rich console design. The county provided 911 Direct with an initial layout concept from which we manufactured designed a series of Prodigy dispatch consoles to fit the existing footprint for the three workstations. Prodigy consoles are ergonomically designed to provide operators with a comfortable, efficient workspace that is ideal for 24/7 control room environments.
